Tbis exquisite collection of antique Morpho butterfly set Art Deco sterling silver jewellery is mostly made by Thomas L Mott. It was extremely popular jewellery in the 1920s.

You'll see here reverse painted butterfly wing piecee with tropical island scenes.
Other pieces in our collection (but not shown here) include antique sulphide butterfly wing jewellery often with cherubs. Hence a favourite of ours too.

There are a lot of modern pieces like these  being made today using Morpho butterflies farmed for the purpose, but if you seek the antique versions there are still a number of pieces around to look out for.

Sometimes the wings have degraded and no longer show that wonderful iridescent blue colour, but even in their sludgy brown beige colour they can be quite collectible.
