An oval brooch of semi precious Blue John mounted in a black frame made of black jet or resin.
Blue John is only mined in Derbyshire in two caves near Castleton. Despite its name Blue John is usually purple with white or sometimes yellow streaks.
In very good condition and would make a lovely gift.
